Perimeter vs. Area

Danielle is an architect and is designing her own house. Danielle has decided that she wants to build a porch that wraps around her entire house and extends seven feet from the house the entire way around. Danielle wants to know how long this porch will be so she can find out the amount of wood she will need. Should Danielle use the perimeter or the area when finding the length of the porch?
