Recursive Formulas - Definition & Examples

Suppose a sequence starts with $a_1 = 3$.

It has both an explicit and a recursive formula, but you can't remember which is which. However, you know that to find the $n^{\text{th}}$ term of the sequence, you can just double $n$ and then add $1$.
