There is a strange definition of ΩB/A1\Omega^1_{B/A}, the module of relative differentials of BB over AA, which starts as follows:

Let μ ⁣:B⊗AB→B\mu\colon B\otimes_A B\to B be the multiplication map (induced by B×B→B,  (b,b′)↦bb′B\times B\to B,\; (b,b')\mapsto bb', which is AA-bilinear). View B⊗ABB\otimes_A B as a BB-module by left multiplication, and let II be the kernel ker⁡μ\ker\mu, viewed as a BB-module. Then the AA-linear map d ⁣:B→I,  b↦1⊗b−b⊗1d\colon B\to I,\; b\mapsto 1\otimes b - b\otimes 1 induces an AA-linear derivation B→I/I2B\to I/I^2.

It turns out that II is generated BB-linearly by the elements dbdb, and in fact ΩB/A1\Omega^1_{B/A} can be realized (defined) as I/I2I/I^2 with universal AA-linear derivation B→I/I2B\to I/I^2 given by dd as above.

But first, let's try to understand why dd induces a derivation (modulo I2I^2). Which identities below do d ⁣:B→Id\colon B\to I satisfy in the AA-algebra B⊗ABB\otimes_A B?
