What Is a Statistic?
Axolotl Averages
A worried axolotl (underwater salamander) pet owner is going away on holiday for a week. She wants to know how long her axolotl can survive without food and whether or not it is okay to leave it for a week long trip. She writes a web scraping tool to collect a sample of responses to the question
"How long can a healthy axolotl survive without food?".
She takes the average of the time values she found and got that axolotls can survive 1.5 weeks without food on average.
Is the value being investigated in the above scenario (average time a healthy axolotl can go without eating) a statistic?
