Behavioral Isolation — Definition & Examples
Two populations of octopus live in a coral reef. The females of the first population are very large and only like to mate with small males. In the second population, the females and males are both very small.
Sometimes, females from the first population mate with males from the second population because the males are small. However, males from the first population do not mate with females from the second population because the females from the second population only mate with individuals with a specific color pattern on their skin.
What type of reproductive isolation is this?
