Behavioral Isolation — Definition & Examples
A population of squirrels lives in a forest. One subgroup lives on one side of a river, and the other subgroup is on the other side. The squirrels can easily jump from one side of the river to the other, so there is a lot of gene flow between the two groups. Both groups have a complex mating ritual that involves collecting lots of acorns. Squirrels on one side of the river often have a difficult time finding acorns.
Do the squirrels experience behavioral isolation?
