Wildfire (Ecology) — Definition & Causes
Ecologists studying the Rocky Mountains have found that the proportion of forest growth that happens after a wildfire has changed over time. Before 2000, only 19% of sites had no regrowth after a fire. After 2000, 32% of sites had no regrowth after a fire. This change correlates to a higher amount of drought and dry conditions in the area.
What does this mean in terms of a relationship between forest fires and ecosystem stability?
