This image depicts the interaction between water and NaCl (table salt). If, instead of water, this table salt were mixed with a liquid oil, what would occur?

Option A: A

The Na+ would separate from the Cl- because salt dissolves in liquids.

Option B: B

The Na+ would separate from the Cl-, and be drawn to the H in the oil, while the Cl- would be drawn to the C.

Option C: C

The NaCl would remain undissolved, because, unlike water, which forms dipole-dipole bonds, oil has no inter-molecular bonds.

Option D: D

The NaCl will remain mostly undissolved because oil is nonpolar, and therefore has no negative or positive side to attract Na+ or Cl-, which remain attracted to each other.
