First Law of Thermodynamics — Conservation of Energy

In a heat engine (pictured above) a hot fluid is mixed with a cold fluid in order to turn a turbine to produce work. When the temperature of the two wells becomes equilibrated, the engine stops producing work. Would we expect the equilibrium temperature of a heat engine to be higher or lower than the equilibrium temperature of the two wells being mixed without the turbine?
