Asking questions is one of the keys to thinking better.

Sadly, there's a common fear that asking questions makes people appear "stupid" because they may not know/understand something. But there really is nothing to be ashamed of because we all have something new to learn which involves the "struggle" process.

Asking questions actually requires an active mind. People who ask questions while they learn are actively processing information and identifying what they don't understand or what they want to know MORE about-- much more involved than passively sitting at a desk absorbing a lecture (possibly zoning out..).

General question stems that pretty much apply everywhere:

  1. Why?
  2. How?

Deepen your understanding. Probe new, intriguing topics. Challenge tradition.

Go forth and question!

Surprise! In this case I am not providing exercises but am leaving a challenge for you, the reader, to accept. Find problems relating to any field in math and science that appears interesting to you, and then take time to try and solve those problems. Ask yourself questions and share those with other motivated students and teachers. You will get further this way than if I just give you problems here. Of course this site is a great starting resource for that, so get cracking!

Type a concept, like “slope” or “photosynthesis”.
