A centrifuge is kind of like a cylinder that spins at a very high speed. It is generally used to separate liquids based on their respective densities. It can separate the different components of blood, which is a valuable ability when it is necessary to analyze blood for whatever reason. The earliest uses for the rudimentary centrifuges was to separate cream from milk. There are many different types of centrifuges, including ultracentrifuges, gas centrifuges, and Zippe-type centrifuges.

The Centrifugal force is a fictitious force that points radially outwards and has magnitude given by mrω2mr\omega^2 in the rotating frame. This creates an effective gravity and is how centrifuges work by rotating at super high speeds.
