Cholesterol and Membrane Fluidity
Membrane fluidity is determined by the movement of the membrane lipids. The movement of the lipids is a property of the intermolecular interactions between them. The strength of these intermolecular bonds depends on three factors: 1) the length of the fatty acid chain 2) the degree of unsaturation and 3) the concentration of cholesterol.
