DNA double-stranded break (DSB) repair is a very important because unrepaired or improperly repaired double-stranded breaks can lead to irreparable mutations, cell death, or transformation into cancerous cells. DNA DSB repair is also a very useful field of study because it plays a key role in many genetic engineering methods.
There are three main methods of DNA DSB repair: Classical NHEJ (C-NHEJ, or sometimes just NHEJ), Alternative NHEJ (A-NHEJ, Alt-EJ, MMEJ), and HR. (Will edit and finish later.)
