Longer Hypotenuse
The the following triangle, the hypotenuse, in this case CA, is longer than both CB and BA.
Why is this so?
As you've probably know, the Pythagorean Theorem is a formula in which , with and being the legs of the triangle, and the hypotenuse, the longest side of any triangle.
So if you apply this formula to any triangle, such as this one;

As you can see, the side with the length of 13 is the hypotenuse.
Therefore, .
25 + 144 = 169
Indeed, the hypotenuse is the longest side in a triangle.
Let's try a few problems to see if you know which side is the hypotenuse :)
In triangle ABC, ∠CBA is 90°, and ∠CAB is 45°. What side is the hypotenuse?
Bob is mowing is lawn. His lawn just happened to have the shape of an equilateral triangle, ΔXYZ. ∠XZY is 60°. Bob wants to leave the longest side of his lawn untrimmed. What side should he not mow?
