Behold a perk of static electricity!

Let's begin!

Break the word "electrostatics" and you get electro and statics. Electro simply means electrons which are negatively charged particles responsible for transferring current. You will learn about it all eventually. So, don't worry! Static means to be at rest. Hence, you get the following definition:

Electrostatics is simply the branch of physics which deals with the study of charges at rest under the influence of electric forces.

The force which holds the negative and positive charges that make up atoms or molecules is called electric force.

Basic law of electrostatics:

Like charges repel, and unlike charges attract each other.

This is just a fundamental principle though. Electrostatics gets more and more interesting as we dig into it deeper.

So, fasten your seat belts and brace yourself for an electrifying ride!

Cheers!

Electrostatics is a branch of physics that studies electric charges at rest. Since classical physics, it has been known that some materials such as amber attract lightweight particles after rubbing. The Greek word for amber, ήλεκτρον, or electron, was the source of the word 'electricity'.

Type a concept, like “slope” or “photosynthesis”.
