Homeostasis or homoeostasis is the property of a system within the body of a living organism in which a variable, such as the concentration of a substance in solution, is actively regulated to remain very nearly constant.
For example, in the early days of medicine, homeostasis was balanced by increasing or decreasing the four humors (black bile, blood, mucus, etc.). However, this practice was usually unsuccessful. An example of homeostasis disruption is diabetic disorders, which create a deficiency of blood sugar.
