A satellite galaxy is a galaxy that is orbiting our own Milky Way. These galaxies each of their own center where their stars orbit, but that galaxy is orbiting a bigger galaxy. A satellite galaxy that gets too close and is torn apart is known as a stellar stream. The Milky Way's biggest Satellite Galaxy is the Magellanic Cloud, which is 1/100 of the Milky Way.
