What Are Rays?

Before this, knowWhat Are Points?

Illustrated · 1 min

Rays are defined by a starting point, then go forever

Like line segments and lines, rays can be defined by two points. They begin at one of the points and pass through the other, then extend forever in that direction. Also like lines and line segments, they are always straight.

Rays are named using the points they start at and a point that they pass through. BC and AD are rays in the image above.

Just like lines and line segments, rays can have special names or special relationships with other figures.

Type a concept, like “slope” or “photosynthesis”.
