কোনো রেখা ত্রিভুজ ABC কে যদি AB ও AC বাহুকে E,F এ ছেদ করে যা BC বাহুর সাথে সমান্তরাল নয়, এবং যদি BCFE হয়, তাহলে EF কে ত্রিভুজ ABC এর BC বাহুর এন্টি সমান্তরাল রেখা বলা হয়।

প্রথমত খেয়াল করো, রেখাটি ABC এর পরিবৃত্তকে অথবা BCFE কে E ও F এ ছেদ করেছে। কিন্তু E,F ও A তো একই বিন্দু। এতে আমরা বলতে পারি, EF আসলে ABC এর পরিবৃত্তকে কেবল একটি বিন্দুতেই ছেদ করেছে তা হলো A। অর্থাত্ EF আসলে হলো ABC এর পরিবৃত্তের সাথে A তে স্পর্শক। এতে আমরা পাই, স্পর্শকও এক ধরণের এন্টি সমান্তরাল। এখন যেহুতু $\angle GFB=\angle FCB$ এই স্পর্শকের জন্য আমরা পাই, $\angle GAB=\angle ACB$ এটিকে বলা হয় একান্তর বৃত্তাংশ উপপাদ্য(Alternate segment theorem).

What are antiparallel lines?

Why did I tell you about this when I'm suppose to talk about antiparallel lines? They're actually quite similar. Consider the following diagram :

$ABC$ is a triangle. Let $E$ be a point on $AC$. The circumcircle of $BCE$ intersect $AB$ at $D$. $DE$ (marked in yellow) and $BC$ (marked in cyan) are called antiparallel.

Again, $\triangle ADE \sim \triangle ABC$.

Note that $DE$ in the second diagram is the same as $DE$ in the first diagram reflected about the angle bisector of $\angle A$.

Thus, we arrive at the definition :

Given a line $n$, we say that $l$ and $m$ (both not parallel to $n$) are antiparallel with respect to $n$ if the reflection of $l'$ of $l$ about $n$ is parallel to $m$. Often, if the line $n$ is clear in the context, we often just say that $l$ is antiparallel to $m$.
