Let's say we have a grid of regularly spaced lines in nn-dimensions. Whenever nn of these lines intersect at 11 point, we call the point at which they intersect a lattice point. This terminology will help in higher dimensions, but a simpler way to put it is a point where all of the coordinates of that point are integers. For example, in the 2-dimensional coordinate plane where every point can be given an xx-coordinate and a yy-coordinate, if the point has coordinates (x,y)(x,y) where xx and yy are integers, then that point is a lattice point. To test your knowledge of lattice points, try these simple questions:

The problems run from approachable to very hard, and each is rated by how often real students solve it, so you can pick your next step. These are real problems from the AMC 8, AMC 12 and AIME, the national math competitions for middle and high school students, each with a worked solution on LIVE by Po-Shen Loh.
