Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy allows us to reveal the three-dimensional structure and dynamics of protein molecules with incredible atomic resolution.

The protein is placed in a solution and an external magnetic field is applied. The response of each atomic nucleus to the magnetic field yields a resonance spectrum containing information about the identities and distances between the nuclei. Computer models are used to generate a 3D structure from these distance constraints.

Type a concept, like “slope” or “photosynthesis”.
