Cyclotomic Polynomials.

The nnth cyclotomic polynomial, for any positive integer nn, is the unique irreducible polynomial with integer coefficinets, which is a divisor of xn−1x^n-1 and is not a divisor of xk−1x^k-1 for any k<nk < n. It is easy to find that the nnth cyclotomic polynomial can be represented as Φn(x)=∏1≤k≤n, gcd(k,n)=1(x−e2iπ⋅kn).\Phi_n (x) = \displaystyle\prod_{1 \le k \le n, \ \text{gcd}(k,n)=1} \left( x - e^{2i\pi \cdot \frac{k}{n}} \right).

Special cases. If nn is a prime number, then Φn(x)=∑i=0n−1xi.\Phi_n(x) = \displaystyle\sum_{i=0}^{n-1} x^i. If n=2pn=2p, where pp is an odd prime number, then Φn(x)=Φ2p(x)=∑i=0p−1(−x)i.\Phi_n(x) = \Phi_{2p}(x) = \displaystyle\sum_{i=0}^{p-1} \left( -x \right)^i.
