Blastoma

Blastoma is a type of cancer that arises from precursor cells. This type of cancer usually affects children rather than adults. The most common types of blastoma are hepatoblastoma (liver), medulloblastoma (central nervous system), nephroblastoma (kidney) and neuroblastoma (nerve cells).

Blastoma is thought to be a genetic "error" of normal development rather than the result of any environmental factor. Blastomas are typically solid tumors that occur to do the failure of cells to differentiate properly due to fetal or postnatal development.
