Plastids

Plastids are organelles in plant cells and include many types such as chloroplasts, chromoplasts, and leucoplasts. They serve several purposes such as photosynthesis, and manufacture and storage of important chemicals.

Plastids are primarily classified according to structure and origin.

There are many types of plastids. Proplastids can be divided into etioplasts, chloroplasts, and leucoplasts. Chloroplasts contain chromoplasts, while leucoplasts are divided into proteinoplasts, elaiplasts, and amylplasts.
