The Volt is the unit of potential difference in any electrical system. It represents exactly the amount of energy (in Joules) required in moving a Coulomb of charge, ( which is the charge that is manifested in about 6.1201 * 10^19 electrons) between two points. An eV (electron Volt) is simply the unit of energy, devised by particle accelerator scientists in order to describe the unit of energy that is relevant on the scale of a single electron. It is represented as 6.1201 * 10^-19 Joules. You can see that this relates to the volt in that 6 *10^19 eV is equal to the energy in one volt of potential difference.
