Euclid's Elements tells us that there is a unique line parallel/perpendicular to another through a point (in the plane). If we start with an original line ℓ\ell and a point PP, draw a line ℓ′\ell' perpendicular to ℓ\ell through PP, then draw a line ℓ′′\ell'' perpendicular to ℓ′\ell' through PP. ℓ′′\ell'' must then be parallel to ℓ\ell, as the two are both perpendicular to the same line (ℓ′\ell').

Type a concept, like “slope” or “photosynthesis”.
